Navagraha are the nine heavenly bodies and deities that influence human life on Earth and is greatly relevant in Vedic tradition, especially Vedic Astrology. The term is derived from nava, meaning nine, and graha meaning house, planet, seizing, laying hold of, holding. The seven days of the week in the Vedic calendar is also based on the Navagraha. The position of each of these houses in our astrological chart that is calculated based on the time and place of our birth influences our dharma (purpose) and karma (destiny).

Each of these houses influences different physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of our life that pertain to our long term purpose and those that we inherit from our ancestors, as well as the relationships we form in this life. Keeping these houses in harmony is an important aspect of daily living and is often considered part of all spiritual practices as well.

Yoga philosophy also emphasizes embodying the knowledge of Vedic astrology into our daily practices. Hence it strongly recommended the use of Mantra-s related to the Navagraha-s into Samantraka-abhyāsa. There are specific Gāyatrī-mantra-s for each of the Navagraha-s and integrating them into practices facilitate cosmic recalibration, so that the negative influences of these houses may be pacified, and the positive influences strengthened.

The purpose of this seminar is to explore each of the Navagraha-s, and their Gāyatrī-mantra-s, the meaning of the Mantra-s and practice them through meditation.

Each session will offer the classical description of one of the Gāyatrī-mantra-s, related to the Navagraha-s, and its meaning, and the appropriate recitation of the same. Allied theoretical concepts on each of the nine houses will also be shared. A short and potent meditation practice based on the Gāyatrī-mantra of the pertaining Navagraha will also be taught and guided.
